I used @altbot. Follow the bot, it will follow you back. Then send the image to them as a PM, and they'll respond with alt text.

Copy the alt text into a text editor, clean it up, and make sure you're happy with it. Then post the image again (this time publicly), using that alt text.

It's how I do the alt text for most images I share, because being visually impaired myself, I find image descriptions very difficult to create manually, although I also find them useful when they're present. :-)
